ABOUT THE GRANGE

Camp Maud Isbell Berger is owned and
operated by the Connecticut State Grange

Camp Berger was originally organized to give a quality camping experience to Junior Grange members across the State of Connecticut.

The Camp is now open to all children (ages 7-16) in an effort to give boys and girls the knowledge and skills gained from outdoor living as well as the development of rich and lasting friendships. Grange membership is NOT required to attend Camp Berger.

It is the desire of the Connecticut State Grange and the Camp Berger Board of Trustees to give every child, regardless of race, color, national origin or religion, an opportunity to attend camp by keeping the cost within the reach of all.

What is the Grange?

Founded in 1867, the National Grange is the oldest US rural community-service, family-oriented organization with a special interest in agriculture. Over the years, the Grange has evolved to incorporate the interests of rural, suburban and urban communities. Agricultural and legislative initiatives, education and communications access are just a few of the Grange's current areas of involvement. The organization has approximately 160,000 members in more than 2,100 local and state chapters nationwide.

The Connecticut State Grange has been an integral part of rural and non-rural communities across the state for over 125 years, with currently over 50 local Grange chapters in Connecticut.

Local Granges are committed to bettering their communities through service projects, legislative initiatives, and family orientated activities.
